The World Federation of Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy (FEMTEC) is one of the oldest organizations in the field of thermal therapy. It was founded in 1937 and united several European spa associations from Hungary, France, Italy and Russia. Subsequently, FEMTEC was joined by countries such as Spain, Portugal, Poland, Romania and, in the last decade, Cuba, Tunisia, China, Algeria, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Armenia, Georgia, Belarus and Uzbekistan. Every year, FEMTEC holds a Congress and General Assembly in various countries, where specialists exchange experiences, present achievements in balneology, and visit local spa resorts. 15 years ago, FEMTEC received WHO accreditation as an NGO and submits a report on its activities every three years, thus confirming this accreditation.
