Dr. Alberto Pilotto is the Director of the Department Geriatric Care, OrthoGeriatrics and Rehabilitation - Frailty Area - at the E.O. Galliera Hospital, National Relevance and High Specialization Hospital, in Genoa, Italy. Degree in Medicine and Surgery and Specializations in Gastroenterology/Endoscopy and in Geriatrics/Gerontology at the Padua University (Italy). He was Director of the Geriatrics Unit and Research Laboratory of Gerontology and Geriatrics at the IRCCS (Scientific Institute for Research and Care) in San Giovanni Rotondo (Italy) 2002 to 2011 and Director of the Geriatrics Unit at the ULSS 16 Padova (Italy) 2011 to 2015. Obtained the National Scientific License of Full Professor in Internal Medicine by the MIUR (Italian Ministry of University and Research), he was Professor at the Post-Graduate Schools in Geriatrics and Gastroenterology at the Universities of Padua and Parma (Italy) and Magdeburg (Germany). Coordinator of research projects funded by the EU and Italian Ministry of Health, presently he is the project leader of the EU funded MPI_AGE Project (Multidimensional Prognostic Indices in Frail Multi-morbid Older People). He was Member of the Geriatric Working Group of the AIFA (Italian Drug Agency) and presently is a consultant of the Geriatric Expert Group of the EMA (European Medicines Agency). He published over 300 articles in international peer-reviewed journals and over 100 chapters of books including Hazard’s Textbook in Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology 9th Edition and 10th Edition (Mc Graw Hill), and the Oxford Textbook of Geriatric Medicine 3rd edition (Oxford Press). He was Co-Editor of three books on Aging and the Gastrointestinal Tract. He is presently Editor in Chief of the Journal Geriatric Care (PAGEPress), official journal of the SIGOT (Italian Geriatric Society Hospital and Community). Member of Directive Council of the SIGG (Italian Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics), the SIGOT (Italian Geriatric Society Hospital and Community), and the Academic Board of the EUGMS (European Union Geriatric Medicine Society); presently he is the coordinator of the EUGMS Special Interest Group on Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment.
