A case of Plasmodium falciparum malaria: the importance of an integrated diagnostics
AbstractWe report a case of Plasmodium falciparum in an Italian woman of thirty years old, back from Mozambico. The diagnostic suspect came from various factors: a recent stay in a country where the disease is endemic, fever and an inadeguate prophylaxis. The presence of Plasmodium falciparum in thin blood smear and in the immunochromatography assay positivity confirmed the diagnosis.
