Just how useful can be a study into the history of sclerotherapy is not dictated by mere curiosity but rather by the need to find a scientific model which can help develop clinical method. This means looking for an overall vision of fundamental principles and assumptions that can explain the technical choices and options offered by sclerotherapy and that can guide their development. That means defining an evolutionary rationale capable of understanding and calculating how sclerotherapeutic methods should be developed.
